Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (telephone and email)
Visits by pre-arranged appointment. The Search Room is open for appointments Tuesday to Thursday 9:30am to 5pm and Friday 10am to 4pm.
Visitor Facilities:
Dedicated visitor space shared with the Norfolk Record Office, including public computer access, fiche readers, and reference library access.
Items that can be viewed by appointment includes the HER archive of archaeological reports, illustrations, architectural plans, maps, images and other documentary sources. Norfolk Air Photo Library containing over 85,000 aerial photographs of the county. Reference library including over 7,000 books, journals and offprints focused on the Historic Environment. Please note that some of our archive material is now available digitally, including all 'grey literature' reports.
Range of information available:
Digital database records of archaeological sites, finds, and buildings.
Additional geospatial data including Aerial Investigation and Mapping cropmark and earthwork plots and Historic Landscape Characterisation.
Supporting HER Archive, including unpublished archaeological fieldwork reports, artefact descriptions and illustrations, photographs, and other documentary resources. Norfolk Air Photo Library of over 85,000 aerial photographs. Archaeology Reference Library.
Staff are available to assist with enquiries. Charges apply to commercial consultants and large research requests.
