The East Sussex Historic Environment Record is the definitive source of information on the historic environment of East Sussex and the city of Brighton and Hove. This resource, which is fully accessible to the public, contains over 16,000 records on archaeological sites and findspots, together with buildings and landscapes of historic significance. A county of variety from the High and Low Weald to the South Downs and the coastal valleys and marshes, East Sussex's historic environment is diverse and includes important examples of the remains of past human activity of all periods from the Palaeolithic to the present day. The heritage gateway data is a selected sample of the complete ESHER.
