View from the Chair
Dear All,
Sorry for the delay in the latest “View from the Chair”, domestic and work commitments have meant that this is much later than I had intended.
Although memories of our last meeting in Huntingdon may be starting to dim, I hope that all those able to attend enjoyed the days presentations. Those who were unable to attend missed, in my opinion, a most interesting day. We had a good mix of presentations looking at recording military sites from both a local and national perspective. Thanks again to all our speakers and to Nick for organising everything. Our next meeting, in Leamington Spa on the 10th December, will be looking at HERs and community outreach. So do come along if you can as there should be something of interest for everyone. Also we will be announcing the next HER Forum chairman, for your approval, as I am stepping down after the winter meeting.
We've had quite a few themed meetings now. I think that these have been successful, but I have heard from one or two people that they would like to see more meetings with a mix of presentations rather than on just one theme. What do you think about this? Perhaps we could have one themed meeting followed by a mixed meeting, and so on. If you have any suggestions about this, or ideas for future presentations please do let Nick or myself know. We do try and come up with topical or interesting themes for presentations, but the more ideas we get from the floor the easier the task. After all it is your forum.
Finally, I hope you will have all had an opportunity to read and discuss the draft PPS published back in July. Whilst it may not have the status of the HP Bill, HERs are still seen as having a key part to play in the planning process and the PPS will have an impact on the role of HERs for a number of years. If you do have any comments or suggestions on anything in the PPS or the supporting guidance I would urge you to add your voice to any regional or organisational comments submitted to the CLG, before the 30th October.
